FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Currently Kind Fox only services the Southern Suburbs, to avoid burnout and to protect the well-being of our staff we do not actively support participants where travel is >30 minutes (though exceptions can be made depending on urgency and availability). In future as we expand our operations we may have staff options available in more distant locations, such as the Northern Suburbs.
Travel fees are negotiated with the participant in advance when signing a service agreement. As Owner-Operators Usually for short distances we do not charge a travel fee, however for distances >30 minutes we may charge for travel and KMs to your location.
For situations involving staff we do charge for travel for back-to-back shifts where a staff member is travelling from one Participant to another and is entitled to be paid for their time (and reimbursed for their kilometres) between participants.
Kilometres are billed at a rate of $1.00 in line with the NDIS guidelines in situations where a Participant would like one of our staff to drive them to and from a location of their choice.
In Line with the NDIS Guidelines travel fees are capped at a maximum of 1 hour (To and From). In situations where travel is >60 minutes, i.e 90 minutes, a participant would only pay a maximum of 1 hour for travel.
In situations where Kind Fox is providing service to two or more participants at the same location, the travel fees will be split across both participants and will not be billed twice.
In most circumstances travel is not charged for the first participant of the day or for travel home.
Please note travel fees will never be charged without full participant awareness. We will never quote a participant for a shift rate and then charge travel on top without informing you. Travel is always estimated and calculated as part of our service agreement.
At Kind Fox we know that handovers are an arduous and stressful process for participants. We do our best to make sure this is handled as appropriately and calmly as possible, as such we like to where possible have a few 'buddy shifts' where both staff will be available (should the participant wish them to be) so that the handover can be more seamless. Participants will not be double-billed for a hand-over, instead Kind Fox will absorb the cost for having two support workers attend to you during the handover period.
No, restrictive practices can only be implemented by registered service providers and only when directly following a Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP) that has been drafted by a registered Positive behaviour support practitioner. If restrictive practices are required we would recommend searching for a registered provider who specialises in PBS.
Currently Kind Fox is an unregistered provider and so we can only offer services to Plan-Managed or Self-Managed Participants. We have however structured our business to align with the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Pricing Guidelines. We are hoping that we will be in a position to be registered in 2027.
